Repairing the brakes in a car or vehicle is one of the most important jobs to be done when the car is facing pronounced hiccups while braking and running. Problems with brakes do not just come up suddenly, rather get used up slowly. And this is a gradual process. That is why frequent checks of the braking system should be a must each time you take the car for routine servicing. You must personally take care to ask the car mechanic what the problem is with the brakes, or what its health is.
Problems You May Get If Brakes Are Not Repaired:
If brake problems are ignored for long, then you would face some of these issues:
Screeching or squealing sound when brakes are pushed.
Brake would feel soft and spongy and you have to press really hard to get it working every time, thus resulting in exerting more thrust and extending the function time.
The brake may fail too, and you may lose complete control, and feel helpless being unable to stop the vehicle.
This can be dangerous and thus certainly should be the last things happening to the vehicle. If you want to stay safe, drive safe and avoid unwanted expenses due to severe damage.
Moreover, thinking about the brake repair and checking should be your concern when you get the car checked.
Brakes Work on Fluid Dynamics
Brakes work on fluid dynamics. Fluid won’t get compressed even on applying pressure, and would rather transfer that energy into something attached to it. This same technology is applied for brake functioning too. The pressure applied on the brake pedal is distributed by the brake fluid to the system, and that is how things start rolling. Now you would understand the problems associated with it better. If you find out, that any of the below problems are showing up, this would be an indication that the vehicle needs a brake repair.
Brake fluid leakage from the hoses or lines.
Braking sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t due to the air trapped in the system.
Loss of sensitivity and function of the anti-lock braking system.
Temporary block in function when the brake pad is covered with grease.
The vehicle shaping and losing control after each brake usage. Now all these things may gradually show up, and this is where you should be careful. Reading the signs and understanding the implications leads to better car care.
What to Do If the Brake Actually Fails
If the brake actually fails then it would pose a life risk and risk of severe damage to the vehicle. In this condition, you may try the following:
Stop acceleration instantly.
Bring the vehicle to a lower gear.
When the speed diminishes to less than 30mph, then use the hand brakes to slow down the vehicle. Generally, hand brake works in this situation because they are connected to the main brake.
Try to steer the vehicle over an accent, like the divider on the road or any similar structure.
If nothing works, use the reverse gear to slow down, but this should be the last thing to try, as due to this, the car’s reverse transmission would get damaged.
These ideas would never be needed to apply if you stay cautious about the health of the brake. There are brake repairing garages to help your car when needed. You can also contact garages online to tell them to pick up your car if you don’t have time. But these services should be done on due time to avoid any inconvenience caused to the car owner.
